Trip to Singapore History Museum

On Monday,my class and I went to the Singapore History Museum.It was an extremely educational trip.There,we learn about Singapore's history.We went on a guided tour but the tour guide was a gadget called The Companion.It had numbers on it to indicate the exhibit number and its description.If there was an artifact about it,there would be another number about the artifact.The first exhibit was the Singapore Stone.It was a stone with markings engraved on it and was found after World War 2.The markings are apparently a different language but so far it has not been deciphered.We spent about on hour or so in there.According to other classes that had gone on the trip,they didn't have enough time with The Companion and could not finish the trip.In my class,however,some of my friends finished the trip as soon as 15 minutes early and were playing card games(My teacher wasn't too happy about THAT).After that,we went to three other galleries.

The first gallery we went to was the fashion gallery.There,they showed what Singaporeans and other people in Singapore wore and what kind of materials they were made of.They even allowed us to feel the materials and showed what they could be used for.Some were really rough but some were really smooth.There were also a few olden-time sewing machines.

The second gallery we went to was the Wayang(Movie) gallery.When we entered the room,there was a movie playing,but it was in black and white.It was because last time,there were no colour TVs like what we have now.Thee wars also some gramophones that were olden time music players.Compared to our Ipods and MP-3s,they were a few times bigger and bulkier.There was also a puppet stage.At first I didn't know what it was and thought it was the huge house things people burn at funerals.Oops!

The last gallery was the Food gallery.It had several videos playing about how different foods were made.There was also a coffee making machine that was used in olden times.It was really bulky.

After all that,we had to fill out a survey form before going home.I think that this trip has greatly enhanced my learning experience and hope to visit there again.Bye Bye.
