On 28th March 2009,the whole world will be turning off their lights from8:30-9:30pm to partake in an event called Earth Hour.Earth Hour is a global election between Earth and Global warming(from what I saw from an advertisement). This is the first time Singapore is taking part in an event like this.
At the moment,the Earth is facing much more problems than it was in the past.The ozone layer(protects earth from sun's UV rays) is slowly becoming thinner and if nothing is done about it,it will soon disappear.Other problems include deforestation,pollution,over hunting and many ohers.
To solve the problem of over hunting and stopping some of the animals to become extinct,the government of other countries has stopped people from hunting certain animals that are on the endangered list.For example,the elephant is on the endangered list because its tusk are prized and can fetch a high price on the market.That is usually to reason to hunting animals.
I don't know what other people will be doing during Earth Hour.I guess they will probably be having candlelit dinners or doing their work in the dark(bad for eyesight,you know)or doing it with very little light.Maybe you could play hide-and seek in the dark.With very little or no light,it will be very hard to find the other person.:P

I think an event like this will create an awareness among us, about the problems the Earth is facing (like the ones u mentioned) and how we can play our part :)
